Hot Dip Galvanizing
General Features
- The steel surface of products such as rock bolts and plate washers is chemically cleaned prior to galvanizing.
- The galvanizing process produces a durable and abrasion-resistant coating of metallic zinc.
- The zinc coatings are strongly resistant to the corrosive action of normal environments and will provide considerable improvement in long-term protection of rock bolts and components.
With DSI's mix of products, the following standards apply:
- ROCK BOLT BODY HOT DIPPED GALVANIZED to AS/NZS 4680:1999.
- ROCK BOLT THREADS HOT DIPPED GALVANIZED to AS/NZS 4680:1999 then centrifugally spun or precision mechanically cleaned.
- ROCK BOLT NUTS HOT DIP GALVANIZED to AS/NZS 4680:1999, centrifugally spun then tapped oversize to AS 1214 - 1983.
- DOMED BALL HOT DIP GALVANIZED to AS/NZS 4680:1999 then centrifugally spun.
- DOMED & FLAT PLATE WASHERS HOT DIP GALVANIZED to AS/NZS 4680:1999.
The above specification also covers the galvanized coating applied to general steel articles, structural sections, angles, channels, beams, columns, fabricated steel assemblies, threaded bolts and other steel components.

- Minimum galvanized coating thickness is 84 microns on 5mm and thicker steel sections.
- Increased thickness will occur with heavier sections or on certain steel compositions.
- DSI's Mining Products Division is Quality Assured to ISO 9001:2000, Registration No.QAC/R61/0315.
